3Com Corporation was a digital electronics manufacturer best known for its computer network products. The company was co-founded in 1979 by Robert Metcalfe, Howard Charney and others. Metcalfe explained the name 3Com was a contraction of "Computer Communication Compatibility", with its focus on Ethernet technology that he had co-invented, which enabled the networking of computers.

"This company started well with good 3g Products but the company did not progress well. They did not implement newer technology and hence they were bought over.NoneNo Career Growth"

Account Executive (Former Employee) says

"I did very well at 3COM. But unfortunately the company was positioning to sell itself. When I heard that HP was buying us I got out as I feel HP is a very confused company."

Networking Instructor (Former Employee) says

"Good networking ideas. Most customers were on the East coast. as an Instructor, I was constantly traveling from coast to coast, setting up my lab equipment and stoftware in some Hotel; then conducting a class for customer technicians. After tearing down and returning to Santa Clara, CA, I'd have a week down and then back on the road again.Interesting and challenging assignments.Traveled 100, 000 air miles in one year."

System Test Engineer (Former Employee) says

"forward looking work in cable modems did testing in lad with adgilent equipment great place to work easy going but when cable modems went over seas it was time to go."

Accounts Receivable Specialist (Former Employee) says

"3com taught me a lot. The management was always over turning and it was tough to get into a rhythm when there was constant change in management. Overall it was a nice place to work.Close locationConstant Manager Changes"

Senior Technical Instructor (Former Employee) says

"Eventually they got bought out by Hewlett Packard but when I was there the company was employee friendly and innovation was well rewarded. Opportunities for travel were frequent in the role I had."

Hardware Design Engineer (Former Employee) says

"3Com provided me great opportunities to learn the hardware engineering position."

Charles says

"The instructions that come with the instrument are so technical that I cannot figure out how to properly use the instrument, or even know whether is it working. They need a more user friendly set of instructions. As it is, it is useless to me, and I am out $250."

Ken says

"Sold us a meter that was not compatible with our flow meter , gave them all the specs. needed . then would not let us return it ."

Alex says

"My first order was delayed by over a month. Thought it was a one time deal. So I ordered again. Just was informed that the sensors will be delayed by another 3 weeks. Not trustworthy."

Ryan says

"The Instrumart in-house brand Sixth Sense is absolutely terrible. I would strongly recommend NOT buying this product. The recorder software crashes regularly and tech support has no idea how to fix it. These products are not made in-house by Instrumart, they are just really cheap knock-off products from a no-name company overseas, and Instrumart seems to have no control over getting them to solve problems, fix firmware issues, troubleshoot, etc."
